October - Hoisin-BBQ Pork *Can be roasted in the oven or grilled on the Barbeque
Enjoy a glass of Ginger Beer, with this outstanding fall dish!
Ingredients
1 lb. Pork Loin or Pork Tenderloin
2 cups Hoisin Sauce (Wei Chuan or Koon Chun are good labels)
3 TB Chopped fresh Cilantro
2 TB Chili Paste (Sambal Oelek style)
2 TB Sesame Oil
2 TB chopped fresh Ginger
Procedure
Remove most of the silver skin and fat from the pork (you want to leave a little bit on).
Combine all other ingredients.
With a BBQ brush liberally brush on Hoisin sauce to cover pork. (reserve remainder for basting).
In a pre-heated 375 ° F oven -place the pork on a rack over a pan of water and roast for 15 minutes.
Turn down the oven to 225 ° F and cook for another 30 – 40 minutes (depending on cut of pork). Baste pork with Hoisin marinade every 15 minutes.
On the grill -sear the pork on high heat on both sides. Move to low heat and add a pan of water to grill, close the lid and cook slowly basting every 15 minutes.
Use an internal meat thermometer to check for a temperature of 165 ° F.
Remove and let the roast rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Serve with Steamed rice, some of the marinade, steamed or grilled vegetables.
